Privacy Policy

Privacy Statement

Hello. My name is Charlie Anderson. I’m an artist and sole trader. Like many artists today, I sell prints and paintings online, and I keep in touch with my customers and potential customers by email.

When you visit this site you are encouraged to opt into my newsletter (and other email communications). When you do so I store your name and email address, so I can continue to contact you.

Similarly, if you buy some of my work, I will use some of your personal data in order to complete the contract and send you your purchase.

Sometimes, at art fairs and exhibitions, people ask to be kept informed about my work, or simply give me their business cards. Sometimes I will store this data so I can be in touch.

Any data that I hold is on the basis that you are interested in my work and you would expect me to keep in touch.

I look after your data securely and do not pass it on to third parties.

If you ask me to, I will remove your personal data where it is your right that I should, and I will always take you off the marketing list if you ask.

How I use your personal details.

I may use your name and email address to keep in touch with you.

I may store your phone number if you offer it to me.

I may use and store your physical address if you buy any artwork from me.

I do not see or hold payment details including bank account details or payment card numbers.

The legal basis for using your personal details

I rely on the lawful basis of contract and legitimate interest to store your data.

When you sign up for the newsletter I also ask you to consent to me using your email address to communicate with you.

Sharing your personal data

I do not share your personal details unless you specifically ask me to.

How long I keep your data

I keep your data until you ask me to remove it, or unless I decide to delete it as I no longer need it.

I keep indefinitely a record of all purchases of my work, including your name and contact details. This is to protect the provenance of my work (and to protect your investment).

How I keep in touch with you using your personal data

From time to time I email contacts with details of my work. Each email contains an unsubscribe link if you decide you would prefer not to receive further emails.

Occasionally, I might use the data I hold, to send you information in the post, or to ring you up about a show.

Your rights under the GDPR rules.

You can see much more information about your rights in general on the ICO website. You now have more rights than before, but in practice it makes no difference here. I will always stop emailing you and delete your email and other personal details if you ask me to.

I assert a legitimate interest as my legal basis for not deleting data directly relating to sales of my work even if you ask me to do so. Some of this data I also hold by contract (contract of sale). This reflects the fact the right or erasure is not an absolute right.

I will correct errors in your data as soon as I am informed of them.

How to contact me

I can be contacted through the contact page on this website or by emailing me at
